Improved Community Issues
With today’s update, there have been many improvements made to issues reported by the community. As development and feedback continues, we will keep tracking these issues to improve and/or resolve them.
Global – Improved
Input Delay: With H:CEA moving from flighting to release, our testing and feedback is that overall we are seeing a reduction to Input delay. We will continue to monitor feedback and investigate ways to further reduce this. As a reminder, using wireless hardware, experimental VFR settings, and additional software can increase this.
Top Community Issues
There are many issues that have been reported via flighting and release that the team is working through identifying specifics on at this time. This list will grow and change over time as a living document. We will not historically record changes. If you wish to do so, please feel free to save a local copy
Audio: During flighting, many players reported various issues with the audio relating to the Plasma Pistol, levels of audio, and sounds or music overlapping, stuttering, or cutting out. These are known issues that we are working to address in a future update. To read more about ongoing work with audio, check out the “Adding All the Audio” section in the MCC Development Update for February.
Unable to Matchmake: This is an issue that we have seen some players encounter primarily on Steam. We suggest logging out of Xbox Live and logging back in. In most cases, we are seeing this resolve this issue (Full KBA). If this problem persists after attempting this, please create a ticket.
Screen tearing Issues: We are seeing reports of players experiencing screen tearing in game with various settings. We are seeing that this appears most commonly for some players who have in-game display resolutions that are set beyond what is capable of the monitor(s) being used. To change your video settings, please review this (Full KBA).
We are actively investigating this and are looking for more information. If this problem persists after attempting to alter your in-game resolutions outlined above, please create a ticket.
Unable to Pickup Weapons: This was an issue that was identified in flighting by a handful or participants. The resolution to this issue we have found is for players who are on Windows version 1903 to update their version. If you are on Windows 1903 but do not wish to update, there is also a Servicing Stack Update that will resolve this issue. To learn how to update Windows or install the Servicing Stack Update, please follow the instructions here (Full KBA).
Achievement Awarding Issues: We are aware of some various achievement issues since launch for Steam players. We are currently investigating several and will have more updates in the future based on results from our investigations.
Differences from Halo: Combat Evolved, circa 2001 Xbox Release: We are aware of differences with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary on both Xbox One and PC as it relates to the original Xbox release. This is an acknowledgement that we have been aware of and continuously look to investigate areas of opportunity to improve upon the inconsistencies when and where we can in our development roadmap. This includes, but is not limited to several recent hot topic areas:
- Graphical inconsistencies including shaders
- Holes in MP maps
- LAN networking model differences
Co-Op Latency: Currently, we have not been able to identify any issues around this feature and the functionality is on par with the rest of MCC. There is no active development happening around improving/re-writing the legacy network code around this area of the game. Unfortunately, this would be a massive undertaking and just isn’t within the realm of what the team can currently support.
Additional Known Issues
- Terminals become inaccessible when respawning, restarting a checkpoint, or playing missions consecutively (Full KBA).
- We are investigating issues relating to freezing or stuttering; please submit a ticket if encountered (Full KBA).
- Some users have reported loss of campaign progression when moving across platforms. If you encounter this, please create a ticket.
