This workaround may help players who are not receiving credit for completing the “Because You Begged” seasonal challenge in Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC). The steps vary depending on where you play MCC.
On an Xbox console:
Using the Xbox console workaround steps will reset your campaign progress, settings, temporary/private files, and customization choices. You will not lose these customization items; you will just need to re-equip them.
- Close Halo: The Master Chief Collection if it is running.
- Press the Menu button while the Halo: The Master Chief Collection game tile is selected.
- Select Manage game and add-ons.
- Select Saved data.
- Find your Gamertag and press the Menu button.
- Select Delete saved data.
- Confirm that you want to delete it from everywhere.
- Complete the Challenge again.
On Steam:
Using this workaround may reset your campaign progress, settings, and temporary/private files, as well as un-equip your customizations. You will not lose these customization items; you will just need to re-equip them.
- In File Explorer, navigate to C:\Users\[YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow
- Copy the "MCC" folder here and save it to a safe location as a backup, then delete the original folder in “LocalLow”.
- Disable Steam Cloud synchronization for the Master Chief Collection. To find this option, right-click Halo: The Master Chief Collection in your Steam Library, click on Properties, then go to the Updates tab.
- The option for Steam Cloud synchronization may also be under the General tab depending on which version of Steam you are using.
- Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[8 DIGIT STEAM USER ID].
- Backup then delete the folder here named "976730".
- Launch Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
- Complete the Challenge again.
- If successful, restore the backup folders you made and re-enable Steam Cloud synchronization.
On the Microsoft Store, including Game Pass:

- Close Halo: The Master Chief Collection if it is running.
- In File Explorer, navigate to C:\Users\[YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\MCC
- Copy the “MCC” folder here and save it to a safe location as a backup, then delete the original folder in “LocalLow”
- In File Explorer, go to C:\Users\[YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Chelan_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData
- Backup the contents of this folder then delete everything in it.
- Disconnect from the internet.
- Restart Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
- Change some of your Settings and make a Customization change. This will generate new custom save data.
- Complete the challenge again.
- Exit the game.
- Reconnect to the internet.
- Restart Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
- It may ask if you want to wait for another device to finish syncing or if you would like to sync from the cloud. Choose Sync from the cloud.
- You should then be asked which save you would like to keep. Choose the local save.
