Halo Infinite is a first-person shooter available on Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S. The Multiplayer and Academy components of Halo Infinite are free to play, Campaign needs to be purchased or accessed as part of an Xbox Game Pass membership.
The store listings for Multiplayer and Campaign for Halo Infinite are separate. The free multiplayer is named "Halo Infinite" and the paid campaign is called “Halo Infinite (Campaign).” Physical discs of Halo Infinite will grant access to the full game including Campaign.
Halo Infinite multiplayer can be downloaded and played for free on all available platforms. Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass are not required to play multiplayer.
Halo Infinite supports crossplay and cross-progression. Battle Pass progress and customizations associated with your Gamertag are carried across all devices and platforms you log in to.
There are a broad range of multiplayer maps and modes across Arena and Big Team Battle suites. Many of the multiplayer modes are team based, while some feature individuals playing for themselves. Multiplayer options include PvP (Players vs Players) as well as PvE (Players vs the Environment). In PvE, a team of players compete against a team of bots.

Academy, included in the free-to-play Multiplayer, provides players with several opportunities to hone their skills. In the Tutorial, players will learn the basics under the guidance of Laurette Agryna, Spartan Academy Commander, at the Avery J Johnson Academy of Military Science.
Multiplayer has seasonal content and Battle Passes that do not expire.
Community options make it easier for players to play Custom Games, record and share memorable moments and re-watch their previous matches.
