Halo: Campaign Evolved introduces updated graphics technology for the Halo series. This includes expanded settings designed to improve visual fidelity, optimize performance, and reduce input latency across a wide range of PC hardware.
Upscaling
By reconstructing frames from lower‑resolution input into higher-resolution output in real time, upscaling can greatly improve rendering efficiency and system performance, leading to higher framerates while maintaining a high level of visual quality. Halo: Campaign Evolved comes with 4 upscaling techniques available on PC.
Each technique comes with 5 quality options under the Upscaling Quality setting:
- Low – 33% render resolution
- Medium – 50% render resolution
- High – 59% render resolution
- Ultra – 67% render resolution
- Native – 100% render resolution

Upscaling Techniques
NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS)
Halo: Campaign Evolved introduces 4th generation DLSS to Halo. This technique is natively designed for NVIDIA graphics cards and is available to players using GeForce RTX 20-series graphics cards or newer.
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR)
FSR made its initial entry into Halo through updates to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and its capabilities are expanded further in Halo: Campaign Evolved. FSR 3 is available to all hardware, with an upgraded FSR 4 enabled automatically for players using AMD’s latest RDNA 4‑based RX 9000 series of graphics cards.
Intel Xe Super Sampling (XeSS)
Halo on PC is expanding support to include Intel Arc dedicated graphics cards, with several technologies available.
XeSS is designed and optimized for Intel Arc graphics cards. XeSS is available to all hardware owners, however limited performance gains may be observed with non-Intel hardware.
Please note that Intel XeSS is only available when playing the Steam version of Halo: Campaign Evolved, and is not available when using the XBOX app or Microsoft Store PC versions.
Temporal Super Resolution (TSR)
TSR is a universally compatible temporal upscaler. By using information from multiple frames over time, TSR produces a stable, high‑quality image, regardless of your hardware age or capabilities.
When using TSR, the Upscaling Quality option has no impact on the resolution of TSR's upscaling. Instead, two settings will become available to modify TSR's behavior:
Render Scale
The Render Scale setting uses a percentage-based slider to control the game’s maximum render resolution relative to the window resolution. Lowering the render scale reduces the internal resolution, which can improve performance on systems with limited hardware resources. Increasing the render scale above 100% raises the internal resolution beyond native output, which can improve visual clarity and sharpness at a higher performance cost.
Minimum Frame Rate
The Minimum Frame Rate setting helps maintain consistent performance by preventing frame rates from dropping below a selected target during gameplay. This setting functions by lowering your resolution dynamically to maintain the chosen minimum frame rate target; in moments where there is less system demand, it will increase the quality back up. Enabling this option can improve stability in demanding scenes, though higher targets may result in more noticeable changes to image quality.

Latency Reduction
Smoothness matters, but so does responsiveness. Low‑latency modes are designed to reduce the delay between your input (mouse, controller, etc.) and what you see on screen. These modes optimize how frames are queued and presented, which is especially important when using frame generation.
Halo: Campaign Evolved comes with three new latency reduction features:
- NVIDIA Reflex
- AMD Anti‑Lag
- Intel Xe Low Latency (XeLL)

FRAME GENERATION
Frame Generation inserts one generated frame between every traditionally rendered frame to increase perceived visual smoothness. Because generated frames are predicted rather than fully rendered, this technique introduces additional input latency and visual artifacts, making it best suited for players who prioritize visual smoothness over all else.
Frame generation availability is dependent on your PC hardware, and choice of upscale technique:
DLSS
- DLSS Frame Generation is available to players with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40‑series GPUs or newer.
FSR
Players can use FSR frame generation with the following GPU generations or newer:
- NVIDIA: GeForce RTX 20‑series
- AMD: Radeon RX 5000‑series (RDNA 1)
- Intel: Intel Arc Alchemist (A‑series)
XeSS
For players using XeSS upscaling, frame generation is available with the following GPU generations or newer:
- NVIDIA: GeForce RTX 20‑series
- AMD: Radeon RX 5000‑series (RDNA 1)
- Intel: Intel Arc Alchemist (A‑series)
Please note that using frame generation with XeSS upscaling may result in graphical issues during cinematics.
TSR
TSR does not support frame generation. This technology is designed for upscaling only.
