Game files can become corrupted or incomplete after updates, interrupted installations, or when files are modified unintentionally.
This can cause issues like missing content, visual issues, or the game failing to launch properly. In these cases, verifying or repairing game files may help restore missing or damaged data, fix missing cosmetics or unlocks, or return the installation to a working state.
Included below are instructions to verify your installation, which will also replace any corrupt or missing files:
Steam
- In your Windows taskbar, select the Windows icon or search bar if available, and search for Steam.
- Open Steam and select Library.
- In your Steam library sidebar to the left, right click Halo: Campaign Evolved.
- Select Properties via the dropdown menu.
- While in Properties, select Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Once the process is complete, restart your PC.
Microsoft Store PC
- In your Windows taskbar, select the Windows icon or search bar if available, and search for Settings.
- In Settings, select Apps from the lefthand categories.
- Select Installed apps.
- Locate Halo: Campaign Evolved or type Halo: Campaign Evolved in the Search apps search bar.
- Select the three dots (...) on the righthand side beside the game’s file size.
- Select Advanced options.
- Under the Reset section, you will see Repair and Reset buttons.
- Start with Repair. If repair does not work, try Reset. Reset will remove and reset cached files, app data, and more, but not your game progression. You will have to sign in again to Halo: Campaign Evolved after resetting the title.
XBOX App PC
- In your Windows taskbar, select the Windows icon or search bar if available, and search for XBOX.
- In the top-left of the XBOX app, go to My Library.
- Select Halo: Campaign Evolved.
- Select the three dots icon (...) [More actions button].
- Select Manage.
- Go to Files.
- Select Verify and repair.
