Halo: Campaign Evolved Achievement Troubleshooting – Halo Support

This article covers troubleshooting steps for achievements that do not unlock as expected in Halo: Campaign Evolved.

Overview

In some cases, achievements may not unlock immediately after their requirements have been completed. Most delayed achievements are awarded within 24 to 72 hours after completion.

If an achievement has not unlocked as expected, review the troubleshooting steps below for common conditions that can affect achievement progress and unlocks.

If you continue to have an issue with unlocking achievements, submit a Halo Support ticket.

Split-screen

While achievement progress is tracked for both players during split-screen gameplay, Player 2 may not receive achievement notifications while playing.

Player 2 achievement notifications may appear after the following actions:

The group exits the current mission and returns to the main menu.
Player 2 signs in to Halo: Campaign Evolved on the same console or a different console and continues as the primary player.

Skulls

Some Skulls can prevent certain achievements from unlocking while they are active. If an achievement is not unlocking as expected, check whether any achievement-blocking Skulls are turned on before attempting the achievement again.

The following Skulls prevent certain achievements from being earned:

Acrophobia
Bandana

To earn achievements, make sure these Skulls are turned off before playing. You can turn Skulls on or off after selecting a rally point when starting a new game.

Difficulty Modifiers

Using difficulty modifier presets prevents you from earning the following achievements and Trophies:

Heroes Never Die — Complete the Campaign on Heroic Difficulty.
Living Legend — Complete the Campaign on Legendary Difficulty.
Beat the Drop — Complete a Remixed Mission without dying.
Mix Master — Complete an entire Remixed Campaign without dying.
Hot Streak — With the Floor Is Lava Skull activated beat a mission without jumping or dying.
Like Old Times — Complete Two Betrayals with the Speed Limit, Endurance Spec, Hip Fire, and Armistice Skulls enabled.
Frugal Fire — Equip Famine, Recession, and Johnny Ammo Tree Skulls and beat a mission without running out of ammo.
MYTHIC — Complete the Campaign with LASO enabled.
Map Quest — Complete The Silent Cartographer without shooting, using grenades, melee, dying, or restarting.
Jiralhanae Conservationist — On The Most Dangerous Game don’t kill any rampaging Brutes.
All Shield, No Yield — Complete any level on Heroic difficulty or higher without taking health damage.

To earn these Achievements and Trophies, turn off any difficulty modifier presets:

Open Settings using the Menu button (XBOX controller), Options button (PlayStation® controller), or F1 (Keyboard).
Select Gameplay.
Under the General section at the top, select Modifier Preset.
Select None.

Mission Completion

Some achievements require a mission to be completed from start to finish. Starting from a Rally Point may prevent these achievements from unlocking, even if all other requirements are met.

Example: Clean Lap

The Clean Lap achievement requires players to complete the Warthog run on The Maw without flipping the vehicle.

To unlock this achievement:

Start The Maw from the beginning of the mission.
Complete the mission without using a Rally Point.
Finish the Warthog run without flipping the Warthog.

Starting from the Rally Point Charlie will not satisfy the achievement requirements.

Cross-Platform Unlocking

If you have earned achievements on one platform and are playing on another, previously earned achievements may not unlock immediately.

Please note that if you recently closed the game on another device or platform, achievement progress and account status may take time to update. Players may need to wait up to 20 minutes before signing in and trying again on a different platform.

To sync cross-platform achievement progress:

Sign in to Halo: Campaign Evolved on the new platform using the same account.
Perform an in-game action that can trigger achievements, like collecting a Skull or completing a mission on Legendary difficulty.
Wait a few moments for achievement progress to synchronize.

A simple way to trigger achievements is to collect the first skull in the opening room of The Pillar of Autumn.

Additional Troubleshooting

For Steam and PlayStation® players experiencing issues with achievements unlocking on XBOX, signing out of your Microsoft account in-game and then signing back in may trigger previously earned achievements to unlock.

To sign out of Halo: Campaign Evolved:

Open the Settings menu using the Menu button (XBOX controller), Options button (PlayStation® controller), or F1 (Keyboard).
Select Account.
Select Microsoft Sign Out at the top.

This will immediately sign you out of your Microsoft account in-game. The next time you reach the title screen, you will be prompted to sign in again.

For Steam players, make sure you are signed in to XBOX services through either the XBOX Game Bar or the XBOX app on Windows before signing back into the game. This can help previously earned achievements sync and unlock correctly.

XBOX Network Troubleshooting

If an achievement still does not appear after you have completed its requirements, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Connectivity Requirements

Achievements require a connection to the XBOX network to be validated and awarded. If you complete an achievement requirement while your console or PC is offline, the achievement may not unlock until the device reconnects to XBOX services.

After reconnecting to the XBOX network, launch Halo: Campaign Evolved and perform an in-game action that can trigger achievements. For example, you can collect a Skull or complete a mission on legendary difficulty to help validate and update achievement progress.

Achievements may take up to 72 hours to appear while validation is in progress.

XBOX Service Status

Achievements require XBOX services to be available in order to validate and award progress. If an achievement is not unlocking as expected, check the XBOX service status page for any active outages or service alerts that may affect achievements: Support.XBOX.com/XBOX-live-status.

If there is an active service issue, achievement unlocks may be delayed, or unavailable until the service issue is resolved.

After the issue is resolved, launch Halo: Campaign Evolved and perform an in-game action that can trigger achievements, like collecting a Skull or completing a mission on legendary difficulty.

Achievements may take up to 72 hours to appear after a service issue is resolved.

Checking Achievement Progress

There are a few ways to view your achievement progress and unlock status. Use any of the options below to verify whether an achievement has been awarded or is still pending synchronization.

XBOX Console

Press the Guide button to open the XBOX guide.
Select Game activity (controller icon).
Select Achievements.

XBOX App PC

Open the XBOX app.
Select My Library.
Select Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Navigate down to the Achievements section.
- Select the > Icon for a more detailed view.

XBOX Mobile App

Open the XBOX mobile app.
Tap your profile icon in the top-left corner.
Select Achievements.
Select Halo: Campaign Evolved.

If the achievement you are trying to unlock is not listed in any of these sections, it may not have been completed correctly or has not yet synchronized with XBOX services. Allow up to 72 hours for synchronization to finish.

Restarting Your Device

If an achievement has not unlocked after completing its requirements, restarting your device may refresh your connection to XBOX services and trigger pending achievements to unlock. This can be especially helpful after the troubleshooting steps above, such as reconnecting to the internet, switching platforms, or following a service interruption.

To check for pending achievements:

Fully close Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Restart your console or PC.
Launch Halo: Campaign Evolved and sign in to the same account used to earn the achievement.
Perform an in-game action that can trigger achievement validation, such as collecting a Skull or completing a mission.

If the achievement still does not unlock, allow up to 72 hours for synchronization and validation to complete.
