This article covers many Halo: Campaign Evolved features and enhancements that utilize the unique features of PlayStation®5.
Native Development
Halo development and support on PlayStation®aligns with the same standards applied to XBOX and PC. Both the PlayStation®5 and PlayStation®5 Pro versions are developed for their respective hardware to take advantage of console-specific capabilities, with the PlayStation®5 Pro version specifically enhanced to take full advantage of its upgraded hardware, delivering improved performance, stability, and feature fidelity.
Graphics Modes
Halo: Campaign Evolved includes two graphics modes players can choose between:
- Quality: Runs the game at a target of 30 frames per second, prioritizing higher visual fidelity and resolution.
- Performance: Runs the game at a target of 60 frames per second, prioritizing smoother gameplay and increased responsiveness.
To change your graphics mode:
- Open the Settings menu using the Options button.
- Select Video.
- Navigate to the Graphics Mode dropdown.
- Select your preferred option (Quality or Performance).
Each console uses its own resolution targets and rendering methods to maintain consistent visual output for each graphics mode. For advanced technical details about graphics modes on PlayStation®5 and PlayStation®5 Pro, read our Graphics Modes Overview.
High Dynamic Range (HDR) Support
High Dynamic Range is supported on HDR‑compatible displays. When enabled, HDR provides improved contrast, brighter highlights, and a wider range of colors. HDR settings can be adjusted within the console system settings and the in‑game menus.
To calibrate HDR and other display options in-game:
- Open the Settings menu using the Options button.
- Select Video.
- Select Screen Calibration.

3D Audio
3D audio is available when using compatible audio hardware, providing spatial sound positioning during gameplay. This enables players to better perceive directional audio cues, such as enemy movement and environmental effects, contributing to situational awareness during gameplay.
For step-by-step activation instructions, see How to Set Up 3D Audio on PlayStation®5 Consoles.
Suspend & Resume
PlayStation®suspend and resume functionality is supported. When the console is placed into Rest Mode, gameplay is paused and preserved, so you can return to the same session when you launch the game again.
This also integrates with Activities, enabling faster access back into gameplay without needing to restart from a checkpoint.
Play While Downloading
Players can begin playing before the full game download is complete. Once the initial required data has been installed, the first three campaign missions are available to play while remaining content continues to download in the background. Certain features, such as Skulls or Co‑Op, remain unavailable until the full download is complete.
Full Controller Support
Full controller remapping and tuning options are available on PlayStation®5. Players can customize button mappings, adjust sensitivity, and configure joystick inversion settings to support comfort and accessibility preferences.
In addition to full control customization, the following controller features are supported:
DualSense Haptic Feedback
DualSense Adaptive Trigger Effects
Controller Speaker Audio Events
Controller Lighting
Cross-Progression
Linking your Microsoft account to your PlayStation®account during setup enables cross‑progression for Halo: Campaign Evolved. When you sign in on XBOX or PC using the same Microsoft account, your campaign progress is shared across platforms, allowing you to continue your campaign on any supported device with your progress preserved.
Once unlocked, the following progression will automatically unlock across synced platforms:
- Missions and Rally Point unlocks
- Skulls
- Terminals
- Trophies and Achievements
The following progression does not synchronize across platforms:
- Mid‑mission checkpoints
- Exact player position
Cooperative Play
Split-screen
Halo: Campaign Evolved supports two‑player split-screen co‑op on PlayStation®5, allowing two players to experience the full campaign together on a single screen.
Online Cross-play Co-Op
Up to four players can join a Fireteam and play cooperatively through online multiplayer. Fireteams support cross-platform play, allowing players on XBOX, PC, and PlayStation®5 to play together.
PlayStation®5 Pro Enhancements
PlayStation®Spectral Super Resolution 2 (PSSR2)
PSSR2 image upscaling is integrated into Halo: Campaign Evolved on PlayStation®5 Pro consoles. PSSR2 is an improved image upscaling solution that replaces the Temporal Super Resolution upscaling used on the standard PlayStation®5 and other supported consoles.
Higher Fidelity
On PlayStation®5 Pro consoles, the Performance and Quality modes for Halo: Campaign Evolved support higher average target resolutions and higher maximum resolutions for graphics systems such as post-processing and dynamic resolution scaling compared to the standard PlayStation®5, helping the game maintain higher fidelity.
