With the introduction of many new Achievements for Halo: Reach we are seeing feedback from the community around difficulties unlocking them or gaining progression relating to the achievements. Below are a handful of helpful tips of things that could potentially be impacting the progress towards them.
Ad-Blocker
If a DNS Ad-Blocker is in use, you will need to allow a few services used specifically for Halo Services and Achievement related services that track achievement progression. To do this, players will need to authorize the following DNS:
- halowaypoint.com
- *.halowaypoint.com
- *.playfabapi.com
- vortex.data.microsoft.com
As a note, these could change over time. These locations are good today, but as we grow and expand our game + services, it's possible these authorized DNS locations would need to be revisited.
File Integrity Verification
To make sure you are running the game correctly, please follow the steps to Verify Integrity of Game Files. This will be an issue most commonly if you have modified files.
Run with EAC enabled
If you have been modifying files or are running the game with EAC disabled, you cannot earn achievements. In order to earn achievements, you will need to be running the game with a clean install and the EAC enabled executable active.
On Steam, please make sure you have done the above step to Verify Integrity of Game Files and selected the “Play Halo: The Master Chief Collection” version on launch.
On Game Pass or the Microsoft Store’s version you will need to search for “Halo: The Master Chief Collection” locally and make sure to run the EAC enabled executable of the game. If you receive a message blocking you from matchmaking after selecting the EAC enabled executable, please uninstall and reinstall the title.
Scoring Skulls
In campaign, there are certain skulls that will disable some achievements. When enabling these skulls, a message will be displayed informing you that this is the case.
Campaign Completion & Campaign Playlist Achievements
We do have some known issues around these achievements not immediately being awarded upon completion. In most cases these are granted within 24-72 hours after completion if they aren’t granted immediately. If after 72 hours you do not receive the achievement, please visit the Halo Support site and create a ticket.
Speedrunning Achievement Issues
We have seen instances where if a user quits and resumes a single mission over multiple sessions, it can cause issues awarding achievements. We recommend completing any speedrunning and scoring related achievements in a single session.
