This article covers Campaign Remix, including how to unlock the mode, which Skulls are active, and what effects each Skull has during gameplay.
What is Campaign Remix?
Campaign Remix is a new mode that modifies campaign missions by applying randomizing modifiers. These include randomizing enemies, randomizing placed weapons, and altering enemy behavior, and activating random Skulls to vary gameplay on each playthrough.
In addition, you can enable one of two visual modifiers:
- Spore Visibility: Applies a Flood-themed fog effect across missions.
- Night Vision: Forces Night Vision to always remain active.
How to Unlock
Once any 3 Skulls have been collected, the Adaptation, Armistice, and Reload Skulls will automatically unlock in your collection, and Campaign Remix becomes available from the main menu for solo or co-op play.
Each campaign mission contains 3 Skulls, for a total of 39 Skulls hidden across Halo: Campaign Evolved. Collecting any 3 of the 39 Skulls will unlock Campaign Remix. These Skulls do not need to be collected from the same mission.

Remix Skulls
The following 3 Skulls are enabled in every Campaign Remix mission and cannot be deactivated:
Adaptation
This Skull randomizes the enemy factions present in the mission. Players may encounter Covenant enemies in areas typically occupied by the Flood, Flood enemies in Covenant areas, or a mix of both. Every encounter turns into a possible surprise.
Reload
The Reload Skull randomizes the pre-placed weapons for the mission. A location may provide different equipment each time, such as a Plasma Pistol being replaced by a Rocket Launcher, or a Beam Rifle being replaced by an SMG. Players must search areas more thoroughly and adapt their loadout to whatever equipment is available, which can result in encounters that are easier, or significantly more challenging.
Armistice
For the Armistice Skull, enemy factions no longer fight one another. When the Adaptation Skull causes the Flood and Covenant to appear in the same encounter, or in locations within the campaign where these factions would normally fight each other, all enemies will ignore opposing factions and focus exclusively on the player.
Remix Selection
After selecting the mission and rally point, you will enter a Select Skulls screen with options to also enable Spore Visibility or Night Vision, and manually select any additional Skulls you want to apply. You will also see the Remix Selection button, which activates an additional three to six random Skulls from your unlocked collection, with a small chance to also activate or deactivate a visual modifier.
