This article covers steps for linking a Microsoft account to a PlayStation™Network account or Steam account, and requesting to unlink a Microsoft account.
LINKING AN ACCOUNT
To play Halo: Campaign Evolved on PlayStation®or Steam, you must link to a Microsoft account to your PlayStation™Network account or Steam account. Follow the steps below to complete the process.
Step 1: Start the Linking Process
From the main menu of Halo: Campaign Evolved, press the X button (XBOX), Cross button (PlayStation®), or Enter (keyboard) to begin.
Step 2: Review the Photosensitivity Warning
On this second screen, a photosensitivity warning is displayed. Review the information before continuing.
Select CONTINUE to proceed.
Step 3: Review the Microsoft Account Requirement
On this third screen, you’ll see information about the Microsoft account linking requirement.
You must have a Microsoft account with an associated XBOX gamertag to play Halo: Campaign Evolved.

Step 4: Review the notice
Review the disclaimer at the top of this fourth screen. Please be aware that account linking cannot be undone in-game. Ensure that the intended Microsoft account is used for linking.
Step 5: Scan the QR Code
A QR code will appear on the bottom left. Scan the code using a mobile device or visit the link directly underneath the QR code (www.microsoft.com/link) to open a Microsoft account linking portal.
Step 6: Enter the Linking Code
In the Microsoft account linking portal, enter the 8-character access code in the bottom right of your screen from step 5, into the Enter Code field and select Allow access.
Important:
Each code expires in 15 minutes. If the code expires before it is used:
- You’ll be returned to the main menu.
- You must restart the account linking process from the beginning.
Step 7: Sign in With Your Microsoft Account
Provide the email address for the Microsoft account you want to link to your PlayStation™Network or Steam account. Please take proper care to enter the intended email address.
Note: An XBOX gamertag must be created on your Microsoft account before linking. If you have not created a Gamertag, your account linking will fail.
For help creating a Gamertag, refer to Step 3.
Step 8: Complete Authentication
Enter your password, pin, or any other authentication prompts to continue.
Step 9: Confirm Account Details
After signing in successfully, your Gamerpic and Gamertag will appear. Select Let’s go at the bottom of the window to proceed.
Important: closing the window instead of selecting Let’s go may prevent your account from linking successfully.
Step 10: Review Accounts for Linking
At the top of this fifth screen, you will be shown the PlayStation™Network or Steam account along with the Microsoft account that will be linked. Review carefully to ensure that both accounts are correct.
Step 11: Agree to Link Accounts
In the middle, check the box confirming that:
- The account details are correct.
- You understand that you cannot change them on your own once linked.
Step 12: Finish Linking
Select SIGN IN to complete the process.
Once complete, your accounts will be linked, and you can begin playing Halo: Campaign Evolved.
UNLINKING AN ACCOUNT
Account unlinking cannot be completed on your own and must be handled by Halo Support. Follow the steps below to request an account unlink.
- Go to support.halowaypoint.com and sign in with the Microsoft account you want to unlink.
- Create a support ticket. Follow this link to access the new ticket form: Submit a request | Halo Support
- Select In-Game Issue Report as the ticket category.
- Choose Halo: Campaign Evolved as the game.

- In the description, include:

- A clear written request to unlink the accounts
- Submit the ticket.
After you submit your request, a support agent will review your case, determine eligibility, and follow up with next steps.
Progression
Your progression in Halo: Campaign Evolved is tied to your Microsoft account. If you unlink your account, you will lose all game progress on your PlayStation™Network account or Steam account, including:
- Missions
- Modes
- Skulls
- Terminals
This progression will remain on your Microsoft account and on any other platforms still linked to that account.
Customization
Purchased Customization
Customization items from purchased game editions are tied to the platform account.
- Customization purchased on XBOX does not transfer to PlayStation®or Steam.
- Customization purchased on Steam does not transfer to XBOX or PlayStation®.
- Customization purchased on PlayStation®does not transfer to XBOX or Steam.
Purchases made on XBOX, the XBOX app on PC, or the Microsoft Store will transfer between those platforms when you are signed in with the same Microsoft account because Halo: Campaign Evolved is an XBOX Play Anywhere title.
Waypoint-redeemed Customization
Cosmetic items earned through Waypoint, such as Twitch Drops or promotional codes, will sync across all platforms linked to the Microsoft account used to redeem them.
Waiting period
Once your two accounts are unlinked, Halo Support is unable to honor additional unlinking requests for these two accounts until 180 days have elapsed.
Unlink requests for other platforms linked to the same Microsoft account will remain unaffected.
