This article provides an overview of LASO (Legendary All Skulls On) mode, including the skulls required to unlock the mode and the achievements available for completing it.
What is LASO?
LASO stands for Legendary-All-Skulls-On, meaning Legendary difficulty with all skulls enabled. Skulls are gameplay modifiers that can affect enemy behavior, player attributes, and other gameplay elements. This mode is also commonly referred to as Mythic difficulty.
In earlier Halo titles with fewer skulls, LASO was a community-driven challenge without official rewards or achievements. As more skulls were added across the franchise, “All Skulls On” came to refer to a defined set of skulls rather than every skull available.

How to Find Skulls
Each mission contains 3 hidden skulls, for a total of 39 skulls hidden across Halo: Campaign Evolved. As players move near a skull, it emits a subtle ambient audio cue that indicates its location and gets louder as you close in on it.
All skulls can be collected using the Interact/Reload action. By default, this action is mapped to the X button (XBOX), Square button (PlayStation®), and E key (keyboard).
Unlocking LASO
In Halo: Campaign Evolved, LASO uses 17 specific skulls. These skulls must be discovered in the campaign before LASO mode becomes available. Once you discover the 17 skulls, the mode becomes available in the various Campaign and Campaign Remix menus.
Below is the list of the 17 LASO-specific skulls:
- Iron- Dying in co-op resets you to your last checkpoint, dying while solo restarts the level.
- Black Eye- Your shields will only recharge when you melee enemies.
- Fog- Motion Tracker is disabled.
- Famine- Weapons dropped by enemies contain half the ammo.
- Thunderstorm- Upgrades the rank of most enemies.
- Mythic- Enemies have increased health.
- Grunt Birthday Party- Grunt headshots produce legendary celebrations.
- IWHBYD- Rare dialogue becomes more common.
- Boom- Explosion radius is increased by 2x.
- Eye Patch- All auto-aim is disabled for all weapons.
- Grunt Funeral- Grunts die in a blaze of plasma.
- Malfunction- Upon respawn a random element of your HUD no longer appears.
- That's just… Wrong- Enemies have increased awareness of the player.
- Speed Limit- Take your time, enjoy the sights! Disables sprint.
- Pop- Shooting Flood in their weak point causes them to explode.
- Temperamental- Allies will attack the player more quickly if the player kills a friendly.
- Johnny Ammo Seed- When reloading, you lose the ammo remaining in the discarded clip.
All 17 Skulls remain active for the entire LASO playthrough.
Because multiple gameplay modifiers are enabled at once, several core mechanics function differently than in standard Campaign play. For example, shields will not recharge until players melee an enemy and deaths will result in reverting to the last checkpoint in co-op, or restarting the entire level when solo. Players must approach each encounter with greater care and intent.
