This article contains the recommended Halo Infinite settings and related commentary from the Competitive Insights Team (CIT) at Halo Studios. The Competitive Insights Team helps ensure the quality of our games meet the needs of the high-skill and competitive players and are actively involved in the development process. Their recommended settings have been tested and reviewed as the most ideal setting configuration for players to perform at the highest level.
Note: Before implementing any of these settings on your PC, review the "PC hardware specs and drivers for Halo Infinite" article to ensure your system meets the minimum requirements. Additionally, CIT recommends using these settings as a baseline and adjusting further as needed: "While these settings may seem perfect for one player, they may not be for another. Use your own discretion based on your player feel and hardware capabilities."
The above infographic outlines the required hardware specifications for the different graphics quality presets in Halo Infinite. Click the image to view it at its full resolution.

Controller/Mouse and Keyboard
CIT commentary: "[Only pertains to controller players] – The majority of ranked players prefer vibration disabled rather than enabled. This mainly stems from the use of headphones to determine where enemy damage sources are coming from instead of relying on controller vibration."
- Hold to Crouch: Enabled
- Hold to Zoom: Disabled
- Hold to Sprint: Disabled
CIT commentary: "All sensitivity settings, controller layouts, mouse and keyboard binds are very subjective. We recommend using what is most comfortable and common for yourself. However, there are a few settings shown above that give yourself more autonomy with movement."
Video
Global
The two screenshots above illustrate the difference between the default Field of View value of 78° and the recommended value of 100°. Click the image above to view it at its full resolution.
- Field of View: 100°
CIT commentary: "This Field of View is a great starting point. Adjust accordingly."
- Blur: 0%
- Screen Shake: 0%
- Exposure: 0%
- Full Screen Effects: 0%
- Speed Lines: Disabled
- Sharpening: 60%
CIT commentary: "While these settings do give players a heightened sense of immersion, some competitive players may find that adjusting these options will allow them to focus more on their gameplay."
- Brightness: Adjust to your preference
CIT commentary: "Some players tend to increase their in-game screen brightness. To do so, navigate to the Video tab and use the Screen Calibration shortcut listed along the bottom of the screen. From there, it will take you to a screen to adjust your brightness. Generally speaking, players prefer a higher brightness setting to help with spotting enemies, details, and any other visual cues. We recommend starting at default 0 and adjust to your personal preference."
The Brightness option can be found in the Screen Calibration menu, which can be found via the shortcut listed along the bottom of the Video tab in the Settings menu. By default, the shortcut is mapped to the R key on keyboard and the Y button on controller.
PC
- Resolution Scale: 100%
- Minimum Frame Rate: 120
- Maximum Frame Rate: Unlimited
CIT commentary: "Resolution Scale – If you are looking to increase your frame rate as much as possible, we recommend adjusting your resolution to the lowest setting that you'd be comfortable playing on. This is dependent on your hardware capabilities."
Halo Support note: "When setting the Minimum Frame Rate to 120, the game will prioritize maintaining 120 frames per second and deprioritize its resolution. In other words, the resolution may drop to a point that it appears 'blurry' or 'fuzzy' during demanding gameplay. If this is occurring, you may want to select a lower Minimum Frame Rate value."
- VSync: Disabled
CIT commentary: "While this will come down to personal preference, competitive players usually turn off VSync to allow their GPU to rendering at a higher frame rate."
Halo Support note: "Disabling VSync may result in the image appearing to 'tear' or 'split' during gameplay. Enabling VSync may result in a hit to the game's peak and average frame rate, but instances of the image splitting will be significantly reduced."
- Quality Preset: Low
- Effects Quality: Medium
- Animation Quality: Max
- Simulation Quality: Ultra
CIT commentary: "Setting your graphics quality preset to low will give your machine the highest performance capabilities. However, there are three adjustments within graphics that are recommended to fine tune your performance."
- Async Compute
Halo Support note: "There is no one-size-fits-all recommendation for the Async Compute option. Enabling Async Compute increases your CPU overhead, meaning that your CPU will need to work harder. Depending on your PC configuration, enabling this option may result in either of the following scenarios:
- If your PC's performance is not bound by its CPU, enabling Async Compute may reduce your GPU overhead and result in higher performance.
- If your PC's performance is bound by its CPU, enabling Async Compute will likely result in lower performance."
Xbox consoles
- Target Frame Rate: 60 or 120
CIT commentary: "Our recommendation is to set your target frame rate to the highest possible value. For most players it will be 60, however your Xbox Series X|S has the capability to play on 120 FPS (refresh rate)."
For more information on playing Halo Infinite with a 120 Hz refresh rate on Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S consoles, review the "How to enable Graphics Quality mode for Halo Infinite" article.
Audio
- Main: 10
- Voice: 5
- Music: 0
- Menu Music: 0
- Sound Effects: 10
- Environmental Effects: 0
- Hit Detection Effects: 10
CIT commentary: "There is different variance and preferences in audio output because of mix amps and different types of headphones, but we’d recommend starting at this point and adjusting accordingly. The main callouts are sound effects and hit detection to 10 because they will allow you to hear enemy footsteps and other audio cues amidst combat."
- Dynamic Range: Dynamic Mode
CIT commentary: "We have found dynamic mode to be clearer and more thorough than compressed mode."
- Spartan Chatter: Enabled
- Personal AI Chatter: Enabled
CIT commentary: "You should keep these two boxes checked as the spartan chatter can occasionally give you the enemy player’s location. Also, personal AI chatter will deliver small amounts of information, especially around objectives."
Gameplay
- Multiplayer Scoreboard Control: Hold/Release
CIT commentary: "Changing this to hold/release is preferred because it allows you to open and close your scoreboard faster than setting it to tap (1 input instead of 2). The reason to look at the scoreboard is to confirm information on how many players are dead or alive."
- FPS Counter: Enabled
- Network Statistics: Enabled
CIT commentary: "Having both enabled helps verify monitor and internet connections are both configured how you prefer."
When enabled, the FPS Counter and Network Statistics appear in the top right corner of the screen.
-
Enemy UI Color: Select your preferred color from the following options:
- Vermilion (Red)
- Cerise (Purple)
- Grass (Green)
- Pineapple (Yellow)
- Reticle Outline Opacity: 1.0
- Reticle Outline Thickness: 2.0
CIT commentary: "The increased reticle opacity and thickness portrays a more defined reticle that makes it easier to see lighter-colored outlines in some scenarios."
- Show Enemy Names: Enabled
- Show Friendly Names: Enabled
- Show Fireteam Names: Enabled
- Custom Game Player Names: Gamertag
CIT commentary: "Showing names based on Gamertags is preferred because it allows for more precise communication when prioritizing kills and assessing information."
- Chromatic Aberration: Disabled
- Bloom: Disabled
- Parallax: Disabled
CIT commentary: "While these User Interface (UI) visual effects give players a heightened sense of immersion, some competitive players may find that adjusting these options will allow them to focus more on their gameplay."
Accessibility
- Text Size: Default or Large
CIT commentary: "There isn’t a right answer to what is better, it is mainly subjective to the player. Give them both a try and pick which one is best for you."
- Blur: 0%
- Screen Shake: 0%
- Exposure: 0%
- Full Screen Effects: 0%
- Speed Lines: Disabled
- Sharpening: 60%
CIT commentary (same as Video section): "While these settings do give players a heightened sense of immersion, some competitive players may find that adjusting these options will allow them to focus more on their gameplay."
