Every player in Halo Infinite has a personal shield that provides additional protection during combat. Shields will absorb all damage until they are depleted. If you go without taking damage for about five seconds, your shield energy will replenish.
Your Shield Energy
Your shield energy is shown as a light blue bar at the top of your Heads-Up Display (HUD). Once you have taken damage, your health bar will appear as a smaller, yellow bar below your shield bar. When your shields are fully depleted, a low-pitched warning sound will play, and your shield bar will flash red. If you go without taking damage for about five seconds, a rising tone will play as your shields and health replenish.
The Tutorial in Academy also provides a brief overview of shield health. To access the Tutorial, start in the Play tab on the main menu, navigate down and select Academy. The Tutorial will be the first option on the Academy screen.
Shield Upgrades
In Multiplayer, you can pick up and activate the Overshield Power Equipment piece to gain additional protection during gameplay. The Overshield provides extra protection, but decays over time and does not recharge.
In Campaign, you can gradually upgrade the strength of your Shield Core as you progress through the Campaign. Your shield health can only be upgraded in Campaign. The Shield Core can be upgraded by finding Spartan Core collectibles stashed across Zeta Halo and within mission areas. Use the TacMap menu to view the total number of Spartan Cores in each region or mission. After collecting a Spartan Core, use the Upgrades menu to unlock new abilities for your Equipment or increase your Shield Core strength.
For more information about Equipment upgrades, see our Halo Infinite Weapon, Equipment, and Vehicle Inventory article.
How Weapons Affect Shield Health
Some weapons deal more damage to shields. Plasma weapons, such as the Pulse Carbine and the Plasma Pistol, do more damage to shields, but less damage to health. When walking up to a plasma weapon in-game, the color of the weapon name will be blue.
How to See the Shield Health of Others
In Campaign, opponents with active shields will glow brightly when they take damage. Bosses will have a visible shield/health bar above their heads during each fight. Some enemies will only activate their shields when they know an enemy is nearby. A single shot may be able to significantly damage or even kill an unshielded enemy. Once shields have been depleted, headshots do additional damage.
In Multiplayer, other players’ shields will become visible and glow as they take damage. When the shield breaks, the outline around their body will have a bright flash. Once their shields are broken, sparks of energy will come off their armor.
When you die in Multiplayer, you will see the name of the person who killed you, as well as how much health and shield energy they had when you died.
If a player has an Overshield activated in Multiplayer, their armor will glow white.
