Effective use of Equipment can help players get the upper hand during combat. The Equipment icon is visible via the Heads-up Display (HUD) on the lower right corner of the screen, next to the grenade icon. By default, Equipment is activated by pressing RB (Right Bumper) on controller or by pressing the Q key on keyboard.
After activating your Equipment, it will need to cooldown before it can be used again. The cooldown timer is shown as a band of light over the Equipment icon that fills back up after each use. When Equipment is unavailable, the icon is darkened. Pressing the Equipment button will have no effect until the cooldown is over. The end of the cooldown is shown by the Equipment icon becoming bright again, followed by a short sound effect. Cooldown times vary depending on the selected Equipment piece.

Equipment in Campaign
In Campaign, new Equipment pieces are gradually unlocked during story missions. Once a piece of Equipment has been unlocked, it can be upgraded. Any upgrades made to Equipment in Campaign do not transfer to Multiplayer.
The Upgrades tab is where players can view each piece of Equipment they unlock, as well as spend Spartan Cores to upgrade their Equipment.
How to Upgrade Equipment in Campaign
- Find and collect Spartan Cores.
- Collecting a Spartan Core unlocks a new Equipment Point, which can be spent on upgrades.
- When an FOB is captured in one of the main areas of the overworld, the TacMap will indicate how many Spartan Cores are in that area. Spartan Cores are represented by an upward arrow icon on the TacMap. The number of Spartan Cores available in any given area can be found at the bottom left corner of the TacMap under Area Collectibles.
- Open the TacMap.
- The default bindings are View on controller and Tab on keyboard.
- Go to the Upgrades tab.
- Select the Equipment and the level you would like to upgrade it to.
- If you navigate over an upgrade, information will display about the capabilities that come with that upgrade and how much it will cost.
- The number of Spartan Cores needed to upgrade each piece of Equipment increases with every upgrade the player makes to the Equipment.
- Confirm that you wish to upgrade the Equipment.
How to Switch Equipment in Campaign
The Equipment you currently have selected will be shown on the bottom right corner of your HUD. Once you have unlocked more Equipment, you can switch between different Equipment pieces at any time.
On keyboard, number keys 1-4 will select different Equipment pieces.
On controller, press right on the D-pad to activate Switch Equipment, then press one of the directions on the D-pad to select a specific piece of Equipment.
The default bindings can be changed in Settings.
Equipment in Multiplayer
In Multiplayer, Equipment can be used a limited number of times. The amount of uses you have left will be displayed on your Equipment icon. If you die, any Equipment you have equipped will be dropped and can be picked up by other players. Equipment availability depends on how a match or playlist is set up. You may start with Equipment, find Equipment during the match, or Equipment may not be available in that playlist.
If you are not carrying any Equipment, you will automatically pick up Equipment when you move over it. If you have Equipment and move on top of a different Equipment piece, you will be given the option to swap one piece for the other.
Equipment Pieces
The full list of Equipment that players can use in Halo Infinite includes:
Active Camouflage
Once activated, Active Camouflage significantly reduces your character’s outward visibility for a limited time. While moving around, opponents may still be able to see distortions in the air, indicating your presence. Performing actions like sprinting, melee, or firing your weapon will cause you to briefly become more visible. Active Camouflage lasts for 50 seconds by default.
Until Active Camouflage is activated, it will leave a teal trail behind your character as you move.
Active Camouflage is a power item, which means your Personal AI will notify you whenever Active Camouflage is available on the map. After picking it up, Active Camouflage is visible on your hip and generates a teal, glowing trail behind your character as you move.
Active Camouflage is available in Multiplayer mode.
Drop Wall
The Drop Wall creates a protective one-way energy barrier when deployed. You can only fire and throw grenades through the side of the Drop Wall you deployed it from, while the wall absorbs attacks on the other side. Drop Walls last for a small amount of time and opponents can run through them. They can also be worn down by firing into them, or by having their generator destroyed.
The Drop Wall Generator is the mechanical device at the bottom-middle section of the wall.
Campaign upgrades for the Drop Wall include:
- Swift Shelter: reduces Drop Wall cooldown by 20%.
- Rampart: increases Drop Wall strength by 35%.
- Blockade: increases Drop Wall strength by 70% and increases wall size.
- Direct Current: adds shock damage to any projectiles fired through the Drop Wall.
In Campaign, use the default bindings outlined below to equip the Drop Wall:
- On controller, press right, then left on the D-pad to equip it.
- On keyboard, press the 3 key to equip it.
Drop Wall is available in both Multiplayer and Campaign modes.
Grappleshot
The Grappleshot allows you to grab surfaces and pull yourself towards them. You can also grab lighter objects, such as weapons, or throwable explosives (Fusion Coils), and pull them towards you. When an object or surface is in range, a yellow X will appear in the center of your reticle (crosshairs). If you try to grapple an object that is out of range, you will not consume a shot.
The Grappleshot is the first piece of Equipment players unlock at the beginning of the Campaign.
Campaign upgrades for the Grappleshot include:
- Voltaic: stuns grappled enemies for several seconds.
- Quickshot: reduces Grappleshot cooldown by 40%.
- First Strike: delivers a powerful shockwave blast when holding melee while grappling.
- Reachfall: increases damage and radius of the shockwave blast. Enemies within it will be stunned.
In Campaign, use the default bindings outlined below to equip the Grappleshot:
- On controller, press right on the D-pad twice to equip it.
- On keyboard, press the 1 key to equip it.
Grappleshot is available in both Multiplayer and Campaign modes.
Overshield
The Overshield provides a second protective layer over your existing shield. When the Overshield takes damage, it does not automatically recharge the way a normal shield would. Instead, it steadily loses power over time. Once a player has activated an Overshield, a bright, white glow appears across their whole body.
The Overshield is a power item, which means your Personal AI will notify you whenever an Overshield is available on the map. When carrying an unused Overshield, it is visible on your hip and generates a yellow, glowing trail behind your character as you move.
Overshield is available in Multiplayer mode.
Quantum Translocator
The Quantum Translocator allows players to teleport to wherever the Equipment was previously used. Once activated, a teleportation point will be created at the player’s current location. If players activate the Quantum Translocator again, they will teleport to the location where the Equipment was first used. This, in turn, creates a new teleportation point from where they had teleported from. With each subsequent use, players will be returned to their newest teleportation point. Teleportation points can be identified as orange rings that appear in mid-air from the place where the Quantum Translocator was most recently used.
The Quantum Translocator is a power item, which means your Personal AI will notify you whenever a Quantum Translocator is available on the map. After players activate the Quantum Translocator, a multi-colored glow will appear around the player’s armor.
The Quantum Translocator is available in Multiplayer mode.
Repair Field
The Repair Fields allows player to deploy a device that sticks to a surface then creates a spherical zone in which both players and vehicles are healed. The Repair Field can stick onto vehicles, Spartans, and most environmental surfaces. In modes that feature revive orbs the Repair Field will revive any downed players in its radius.
The Repair Field emits a green sphere effect which highlights any vehicles or players it is currently healing.
The Repair Field is available in Multiplayer mode.
Repulsor
The Repulsor bounces objects back in the direction they came from. This includes players, some weapon projectiles, some grenade types, and vehicles. You can also gain additional lift while jumping by looking down and repulsing the ground away from yourself as you jump.
The Repulsor is available in Multiplayer mode.
Shield Core
The Shield Core represents your shield’s defensive capabilities. You can use it to upgrade your shield’s strength over the course of the Campaign. These upgrades do not apply to Multiplayer.
Upgrades for the Shield Core include:
- Fortress: increases shield capacity by an additional 15% of base shield strength.
- Bastille: increases shield capacity by an additional 15% of base shield strength.
- Redoubt: increases shield capacity by an additional 15% of base shield strength.
- Citadel: increases shield capacity by an additional 15% of base shield strength.
Unlike other Equipment pieces, the Shield Core cannot be manually equipped in-game. Instead, it serves as a permanent passive upgrade to your shield during active gameplay.
The Shield Core is available in Campaign mode.

Shroud Screen
The Shroud Screen creates a spherical, holographic cloud of smoke that obscures other players’ line of sight and prevents appearance on Motion Trackers. This piece of Equipment acts as a projectile that you can fire at a desired location. When fired, the Shroud Screen will stick to whatever surface it lands on (except for vehicles and other players.)
Much like the Drop Wall, you can walk through the Shroud Screen. Once you enter the interior of a Shroud Screen you will be unable to see outside of it. Players outside of the Shroud Screen will be unable to see through it. While inside the Shroud Screen, you will not appear on enemy Motion Trackers but you can still be detected via Threat Sensor.
From the outside, the Shroud Screen's hologram appears as a large sphere with a cloudy blue surface.
When standing inside, players' will not be able to see outside of the Shroud Screen's hologram and their vision will be tinted blue.
The Shroud Screen is available in Multiplayer mode.
Threat Seeker
This piece of Equipment behaves similarly to the Threat Sensor but possesses a few differences. Players can fire the Threat Seeker from their wrists, and it will bounce off various surfaces before landing on the ground. Shortly after its initial activation, the Threat Seeker will emit a single pulse, revealing enemy players that are in range. However, the pulse only affects enemy players that are in direct line of sight of the Threat Seeker. Meaning that players occupying adjacent rooms or hiding behind obstacles will not appear.
The Threat Seeker is available in Multiplayer mode.
Threat Sensor
The Threat Sensor makes enemies more visible to you and your team, even if your opponents are behind walls or using Active Camouflage.
Threat Sensors are projectiles that players fire from their wrist, which stick to various surfaces. This includes walls, floors, vehicles, enemies, and team members. Once it has landed, the Threat Sensor highlights enemies and places anyone within its radius on the Motion Tracker.
Campaign upgrades for the Threat Sensor include:
- Seeker: increases Threat Sensor detection radius by 50%.
- Operative: adds a second charge to the Threat Sensor.
- Clairvoyant: reduces Threat Sensor cooldown by 40%.
- Omniscience: adds uninterrupted enemy visibility to the Threat Sensor and reveals their health.
In Campaign, use the default bindings outlined below to equip the Threat Sensor:
- On controller, press right, then down on the D-pad to equip it.
- On keyboard, press the 2 key to equip it.
Threat Sensor is available in both Multiplayer and Campaign modes.
Thruster
The Thruster provides a short surge of speed in the direction you are moving in. This piece of Equipment is especially useful for avoiding enemy attacks and traversing in-game terrain.
Campaign upgrades for the Thruster include:
- Afterburner: adds a second charge to your Thruster.
- Thermal Control: reduces Thruster cooldown by 20%.
- Impulse: adds significant power to the Thruster, allowing further and faster travel.
- Escape Velocity: adds an Active Camouflage effect to the player, lasting 4 seconds after activating the Thruster.
In Campaign, use the default bindings outlined below to equip the Thruster:
- On controller, press right, then up on the D-pad to equip it.
- On keyboard, press the 4 key to equip it.
Thruster is available in both Multiplayer and Campaign modes.
