There are rare instances where players are unable to access Halo Infinite on PC due to file corruption. This corruption may be introduced when first installing Halo Infinite or when installing a game update.
This issue may appear in a variety of ways:
- Halo Infinite crashes without any error messaging.
- Halo Infinite appears to freeze and a Windows error message referring to “Damaged media” or “module is damaged” appears.
- Halo Infinite stops responding, and Windows prompts you to restart or exit the game.
Steam
If you downloaded Halo Infinite via Steam, it’s possible that the game files were corrupted during the installation or update process. This issue may be resolved by verifying the integrity of the local game files. Follow the steps below:
- From your Steam library, right click on Halo Infinite from your games list.
- Select Properties via the dropdown menu.
- While in the Properties menu, select Local Files.
- Click on Verify Integrity of Local Game Files.
- Once the process is complete, restart your PC.
Microsoft Store
If you downloaded Halo Infinite from the Microsoft store, you may be able to repair the game files using Windows system settings. Follow the steps below:
- Open the Start menu on Windows by clicking on the task bar’s Windows icon or by pressing the Windows key on the keyboard.
- Type “Apps & Features” into the Search bar then press the Enter key.
- In the Apps & Features Settings window, scroll down and select Halo Infinite.
- Select Advanced Options.
- Scroll down and select Repair.
If the error is persisting after using the Repair option, follow Steps 1-4 above, then select Uninstall instead of Repair. Once you have uninstalled Halo Infinite, you can re-download it using the steps in our installation guide.
