Halo Infinite main menu tabs are Play, Customize, Community, and Shop.
Play
Halo Infinite starts on the Play menu. At the top there are four tabs: Play, Customize, Community, and Shop.
There are several ways to play Halo Infinite: Academy, Multiplayer, and Custom Games are free to play.
Below the four main tabs are the following menu items:
Campaign
Campaign is the single-player story mode that follows the adventures of The Master Chief on Zeta Halo. Clicking the Campaign option launches Halo Infinite Campaign. Players are taken to a loading screen prior to entering the Campaign main menu. Players on PC may see Halo Infinite appear to close then relaunch during this process. Halo Infinite Campaign is available for purchase on Xbox and Steam.
In this menu the following options are available:
- Continue: Continues most recently saved game.
- New Game: Opens menu to select difficulty and skulls for a fresh new launch of the Halo Infinite Campaign. Players also have the option to invite others into their Fireteam.
- Load Game: Opens menu of saved check points to start from.
- Multiplayer: Returns to the Multiplayer main menu.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer enables online play against and with other players in a wide variety of maps and modes. Players can also add members to their Fireteam on this screen. Pick a playlist, view details, apply boosts, select maps, and click Play to start matching. Once the Play button is selected players will matchmake into a group to play the selected experience. Wait times may vary but are usually under a few minutes.
Players may exit any time before a match is made. Quitting once placed into a match or during a game is a bad experience for other players on the team who are left unsupported. Players who exit early will lose any stats/progress earned in the match and risk an automated or manual enforcement ban for abandoning a match.
Academy
Academy contains Tutorial, Weapon Drills, and Training Mode options.
- Tutorial: Starts a story mode bootcamp, going over basic skills.
- Weapon Drills: Enters players into a shooting range with all the main firearms. Each weapon has three timed drills of increasing difficulty.
- Training Mode: A multiplayer gameplay experience fighting against bots, instead of other players. Training mode is highly customizable, allowing players to practice in a wide range of maps and difficulty levels. Once the Training Mode match starts players can access the Training Options via the Pause menu at anytime.

- Create Match: Create a game mode with a variety of possible adjustments to existing rules. Lobby options determine if a custom game is open to friends, by invitation only, or public on the Custom Game Browser. Lobbies are set to be Friends Only by default.
Forge
Forge mode is a suite of in-game tools that allow players to create their own multiplayer maps and modes. When creating a map with Forge, players can place and modify items, effects, and sounds to build all-new experiences. Players can publish their map to share with others or even publish an object, called a Prefab, that other players can place in their own Forge map.
